20 X Henry Hueck Green Bean Pouches
Who is Henry Hueck?
Henry Hueck grows coffee in the Matagalpa area in Nicaragua. He understands that a commitment to exceptional coffee also means a commitment to community.
“The family values that we have inherited from our grandparents and parents are what teach us to carry out the things we do, such as preserving the environment, working with social and entrepreneurial responsibility, and supporting our communities”.
Matagalpa was plagued with conflict during the 1960’s and ‘70’s, however the geographical location has rich soil and is at an altitude ideal for coffee farming. In 1995, Henry Hueck purchased his farm with a small amount of standing buildings and little-to-no existing infrastructure. This has resulted in going from 20 employees in the 1990’s to 1000 people during the harvesting season.
Henry’s admirable emphasis on corporate social responsibility in a developing country directly created many new homes for permanent employees, their families, seasonal workers as well as new facilities for schooling and health.
The result is a strong sense of loyalty and community on the farm as well as a classic medium roast bean, balanced with aromas of sweet brown sugar, and very palatable lime-themed notes.
